אושר (Andrew) Günsberg posted a photo:	decluttr** somehow after taking a photo every day for a year, based on the idea that I took my shot in between when I woke up and when I went to bed - I managed an extra calendar day. I only discovered this when collating the pics for an exhibit. I guess it must have been the times I crossed the international date line, plus the day I finished. Hey - It's a bonus! And that my friends, is that. Couldn't have done it without you. Your support in all of this has been remarkable, and I don't think if I'd put this project anywhere but flickr I'd have maintained the motivation to shoot every day like I did. So, thank you for everything. I left Seville very early in the morning, flew to Barcelona and then to Munich to set up for the long-haul. I don't know what happened between waking up and the Munich-LAX flight, but I started feeling pretty bad just after we pushed back. I always travel with a hoodie (which you've all seen by now, the green one) and even though I was up in it that hood like the sand people in Star Wars, I was still freezing. The remaining twelve-hour journey was alternating cycles of me shivering under two blankets and then stripping the blankets off and sweating through the only t-shirt I had with me. Sorry to the guy next to me.Eventually, by the miracle of modern air-travel and a convenient benefit of our society's oil-dependence, I had left Spain before breakfast and was walking through my front door in LA just before dinner. Needless to say, my body didn't like what it was going through and decided that we'd both be better off without the pesky contents of my stomach and bowel weighing us down, so after a good hour of that, I shot this photo. My challenge to myself was to document a year in my life, to shoot every day and to challenge myself creatively. I am happy to say that I've achieved all three goals, and learned so much about shooting in this last year I can't even describe. I know my gear intimately, know my lights well, and feel that I was able to execute most of the ideas that I had without compromise. I can't recommend this project enough to you. If you're serious about learning your lights and your lenses, shoot every day, and shoot it differently. You'll never be the same. It has been a big year for me, I changed jobs and moved countries among other things (which I'll go into later) - so I'm glad I chose this year to document. I learned so much this year about myself, about how much we change as people over the course of the year, and how parts of me then wouldn't recognise parts of me now. The opportunities that this project has brought me alone were worth the cost of admission. Speaking of which, I've been invited to exhibit these photos at the Mart Gallery in Sydney in September, so if you could do me a favour and send me a flickr mail to let me know which ones you'd like to see blown up a bit bigger than the rest, I'd sure appreciate it. (Avoid them in the comments please, I'd like to keep track of who likes what and flickr mail seems the best option for now.)I'll fill you in on the exhibition when it comes closer, though best bet is to follow on twitter or facebook and I'll post it there. And so we're done.It will be strange not leaving the house every day with a giant backpack, light stands and a tripod, planning my day around my shot. I may do this again but for now, I'm taking a break.Thank you all once again for your incredible support and comments over the year - again, without you I would not have been able to do this. I can't express my gratitude to all who've taken time to stop by and view these photos enough.Take care of yourselves, and I'll see you soon. x OsherStrobist: 580EXII through Octabox NXT in front, gridded 580EX in the back, all fired with PW2s. Shutter fired by PW2.365 Days: A Challenge to Shoot a Self-Portrait every day for a year. To push myself to be creative. A reason to get the camera out of the bag every day.
