Rules Made To Be Broken

It’s no bad thing to learn photography from books or online tutorials. But where it often goes wrong is that adherents tend to take that advice as absolute. They then either practise or pontificate as though straying from the rote path will lead to hell or humiliation.

No matter whether it concerns holding the camera, shutter speeds, ISO no-nos, or standard lighting setups and so on, good things can happen when you experiment… when you lose your way and find yourself again with a startling new perspective.

Just don’t do this on a wedding assignment.
