The Amari was at the north end of Chaweng Beach on the East coast, its right near the airport as we have to leave early in the morning in two days time. We immediately set out on a walk of the town in search of the nearest 7 eleven for some much needed air conditioning and water. The town was nice, less commercial than i expected. It still had a small town feel about it but with the amount of bars and restaurants i am sure the night time entertainment here is good.
After a couple of hours walking we decided to get a moped again so we made our way back to the hotel to pick up a passport (the moped companies take your passport as security). Here the moped was 200 Baht a day. We jumped on and did a quick circuit of the town. Having the moped really does help on these islands, it gives you that extra sense of freedom that actually helps you feel more relaxed. Obviously if you haven’t ridden one before the stress and worry of handling it could have the opposite affect.
We refreshed back at the hotel with a swim and headed out on the town. First stop a little street bar where we chatted with the locals and consumed a couple of much needed drinks. Our plan was to take in a local Thai dancing show but the time table didn’t quiet work out so we strolled the town for a while before deciding to jump back on the bike and head over to the local No.4 Noodle bar we had spotted earlier. 45 Baht a dish – Yummy. After that we went back to town and hit a local bar – it was a girly bar, by that i mean it was one of those bars with lots of young girls working – their jobs i guess were to entertain and to get the punters to spend as much as possible. We were early so we were just about the only paying customers there. the girls were friendly and we had a blast of a night playing pool and the local drinking games. By 11.00pm we had certainly drank enough and i carried Hazuki home. Great night out.Popularity: unranked
