Mother nature is calling me – Kakadu

Mother nature is calling me – Kakadu

nt logoAccording to the Kakadu National Park site , the name ‘Kakadu’ comes from an Aboriginal floodplain language called Gagudju which was one of the languages spoken in the north of the park at the beginning of the twentieth century.

On a primeval level I am “going fishing with my boy”. Jake, is a 13 year old true boy and he is excited out of his mind. Me on the other hand, ok ok I am excited out of my mind too.

We are going to be staying at the Gagudju Lodge in Cooinda for about 5 days after enjoying a few days in Darwin. With a bit of luck we will get to see a Seniors AFL game on Saturday for a bit of local entertainment. Mix that with local tourist stuff, a few beers, views across the harbour and time with the most important other male in my life and heck – it could just be a great time. What do you think?

About the Author

My interest in photography goes back as far, if not further, than I can remember. My Grandfather had a thing called a box brownie and i remember being amazed at how it recorded history. I was given a 120 film camera when I was about 10 as evidenced by some black and white photos I recently found of my sister when she was 5 or so - she turned 40 in 2008. So from recording history, through the passage of an EOS 5 film into digital and moving into a desire to 'make images' rather than take photos, I find myself here. Photography. "For the thrill of it." Photography. "It's where life is happening." Photography. "When time stands still." Photography. "Maybe it's just about being there again."
