Nikon’s New Camera Projects

Nikon has produced the world’s first compact digital camera with a built-in projector.

S1000pj_SL_topThe new Coolpix S1000pj is a 12.1 megapixel camera that can project VGA resolution still or video images, sized from 10 to 100 cm wide, at up to 10 lumens brightness, onto a screen or wall from 25cm to 200cm away.

Aside from 12.1-megapixel resolution, the S1000pj features high ISO 6400 sensitivity, five-way Vibration Reduction image stabilisation, four movie modes with sound, a 2.7-inch wide angle LCD display, and 36MB internal memory, expandable via SD/SDHC memory card.

Its 28mm wide-angle Nikkor lens has 5x optical zoom and also gives you macro capability as close as 3cm.

The camera has a function called Blink Proof that shoots two sequential frames and saves the one showing the subject’s eyes at their widest. Anyone caught blinking in a shot will trigger a Blink Warning alert.

Another smart feature, Smile Timer, opens the shutter automatically the instant your subject smiles. Red-eye effects are automatically corrected in-camera prior to images being saved and skin can be enhanced with the S1000pj’s Skin Softening function.

S1000pj_SL_frontWeighing around 156 grams and measuring 10cm x 6.35cm x 2.28cm, the S1000pj will be available in black or silver and come with a remote control and projector stand. Its rechargeable Lithium-ion battery will power about an hour of projected entertainment or enough for around 220 shots.

The Nikon S1000pj is expected to be available from around September/October 2009 for less than RRP $600.
