Oh no, we are all out of a job!!! SONY has targeted photographers as an unneeded species and they have been earmarked for eradication with the new SONY PartyShot.
This unbelievable little gadget utilises the currently available technology of face recognition and takes it one step further. The PartyShot is essentially a cradle into which you can slot your SONY DSC-WX1 or DSC-TX1’s cameras. Once attached the cradle can detect a photo opportunity (face), pan 360 degress and tilt 24 degrees to automatically track subjects and take a picture. The PartyShot’s features include:
- Automatic
Snaps pictures at an event – automatically. - Intelligent
Intelligently searches and tilts to follow subjects and take photos. - Dual Shooting Modes
Smile ShutterTM technology automatically detects smiles and Face Detection technology recognizes faces to take photos at the right moment. - Composition
Intelligent composition uses the rule of thirds to compose great shots. - Motion Detection
Motion detection seeks out movement to take photos at the right moment. - Customize
With one touch of the Menu button, you can set the Rotation Angle, Shooting Frequency, and Flash. - Flexible Power
Power up your Party-shot with either two AA alkaline batteries, or with the AC adaptor (AC-LS5 or ACS5K), sold separately and not included.
Isn’t technology wonderful. The fun you could have with this unit, would be great to have at a wedding reception, birthday party.
Expected to be available in Australia by September 09. RRP: $199 estimated

Happy Days, Axel MJ Cremer – Perth WA
Do I sense a little defensiveness there Axel?
Don’t you think it would be fun to put one in Parliament?
Don’t know about parliament David, the individuals don’t smile there much. But I would perhaps put the Sony thing in the Perth zoo, in the monkey cage during feeding-time, that’s when they smile there. This is also close to parliament action.
Happy Days, Axel
But look, I am no judge in regards what people should like or not,
there is something out there for everyone and that diversity alone is a good thing. Still, to me the weird thing is a lot of crap ha..ha
