A Photographer’s Journey into Filming

A Photographer’s Journey into Filming

THIS QUICK VIDEO I’m posting is a demonstration of the movie mode in the new Canon EOS 7D.

As a photographer, I’ve been simply using photography principles, hoping they work for video as well. So far so good.

This video concentrates on potential manual focus issues and shows how well the camera can handle horizontal panning.

I’ve been using really narrow apertures — such as f16 — to overcome manual focus issues with moving subjects. Focusing the camera before shooting, I then adjust the focus as needed.

The 7D’s ISO performance allows you to shoot at 400 ISO with no compromise to video. In good light, f16 is very do-able.

So keep in eye out for the focus performance, panning and image quality.
