By the end of the day, my EF70-200mm f/2.8L USM was starting to feel quite heavy. The light was falling, so I set my camera on a tripod and, at F2.8, there was still plenty of shutter speed to shoot this graceful moving bird.

The light was just right for shooting its beautiful white feather without blowing the highlights out. The contrast between the white bird and the dark blue/green background helped make my subject stand out.

I was so lucky to get so close to them. I’ve been trying for ages, I saw one in a distance and had to run home to get my camera, nearly fell over and completely out of breath but well worth it because when i got back, they were two then, had to check didn’t go cross eyed in all the commotion. Took a deep breath and slowly made my way closer and closer hoping I wouldn’t scare them away, finally I was so close to them, I had to step back only having my 70-200mm ,I could have got away with a 50mm, but hey ! what a privilege they let me shot my photos and observe them for a good long while, and it seemed that all this time I’d been trying to get good shots of ospreys finally paid off. It was one of them magic unexpected moments
These photos where shot with my 70-200mm 2.8 Lens still working on some of the photos, I will update the rest to my website when done.
You cannot help but to notice the contrast between them and the walls. They are all quite unique and all give a fantastic fell to this town.
Exhibited on the 21 of July at the Big Shotz Gallery Showcase on the beach Coolangatta.
